Conformity is the tendency to adjust one's behavior or thinking to match with the group standard. An example of conformity is in everyday society include driving on the right side of the road in the United States.
Social Norm is an expected behavior an individual is expected to conform in a particular group, community, or culture. An example of a social norm is flushing the toilet when you are finished using it. The social norm I broke was instead of the normal way to shake someone's hand, I went up to a stranger and shook their while softly I scratched their hand with my finger. The situation was pretty weird both me and the lady that I shook hands with, I knew what I was going to do so I already felt weird and nervous about going through with it. So what I did was I just to my internship and there was a lady I was gonna be having a meeting with, so when we first met you shake hands like usually but I went in with the idea to break the social norm of hand shaking. I reached for her hand and it was already an awkwardly long hand shake so I decided to use my pointer finger and start scratching the

I was expecting a kind of weird out look of her face and her trying to take her hand back and that is just what I got. Although since we were having a meeting she couldn’t really leave so the meeting was just a little awkward the whole time, but she never mentioned anything about it.
I felt very nervous about going through with breaking the social norm because I knew it was just going to be awkward for both me and the person I did it to. Although I wanted to chicken out I never did, but during the handshake I could feel myself get a little hot from the embarshment of the moment. After the handshake I still felt embarsh because we had to have a meeting and after the meeting was over I realized maybe I should of waiting to break it when we shook hands at the end of the meeting for we wouldn’t have to see each
