Modern society has become accustomed to living in a world where people are expected to conform to the norms of everyday life. We are obligated to stay in a “comfort bubble” and anything beyond what is viewed as normal to the public, is considered unusual. Society plays a big role in our ways of thinking, acting, and our views on morality. We are so accustomed to these norms that we don’t even consider breaking any of these trends that have shaped our fundamental ways of being. Perhaps the reason why conformists don’t break the social rule is the fear of being ridiculed or singled out. For all one knows society may have enacted these rules in the depths of adversity. We’ve even conformed to norms that have been around for many years and still hold these beliefs to be true. For example, society tells us that we must think, act, and present ourselves based on the gender that we are born with. We must act accordingly based on if we were born a male or female, rules that have been applied before we are even born. Males are supposed to be dominant, hardworking, and provide for their families. While women are supposed to be reserved, softer in character, and provide for their family in a home setting. And anything interfering with these set beliefs are considered violations. These values and beliefs that have been around for many generations are accepted and followed in modern society. Men are making the money working, while women care for the children at home. Because our society is evolving and things are becoming more accepted, this value that we hold so true in our hearts are changing before our eyes. Now more than ever women are out in the work field earning their income while presenting a strong demeaning attitude. Perhaps norms will be a thing in the past and these new generations of people will become more accepting of
