Standardized testing should not be a requirement for high school students to graduate. Students stress out about these tests,have test anxiety and students lose their confidence about their test taking skills if they do poorly on these tests. There are countless amounts of pros and cons to the new standardized testing called the PARRC test. Many parents and teachers believe that students shouldn't have to take the new standardized PARRC test. Lynsey Layton from the Washington Post says “students take 112 mandatory standardized test between pre-kintagadren and 12th grade.” The first con about the standardized PARRC test is there are still unanswered questions about the new test and it is scheduled to be given to students in less than a month. With all of the unanswered questions there is a great deal of confusion and disorganization. This does not help teachers prepare students for the test,which means there is a chance of a few students doing poorly on the new test. Some of these unanswered questions are, will students be able to graduate if they don't pass the new test? Will teachers be terminated from their jobs if students aren't passing these tests? Many schools across the world don't have the funds to pay for the computers. This can be a problem because the test is given on computer only. Some students may have a hard time logging into the computer. Another unanswered question is, if the students run out of time due to technical difficulties will they have the time they need to properly finish the test? Students are use to taking tests using pencil and paper. Using a computer will change test scores in an awful way because some students aren't good at using computers.
