The Peggy Eaton Scandal had many consequences. While he was in office, Jackson frequently rewarded those who supported him with high ranking government jobs, this was known as the “Spoils System”. Jackson also replaced Vice President Calhoun with Martin Van Buren during his second term. Van Buren went on to become the 8th President of the United States. This was one of the most notable things Jackson did during the scandal.
