2. Smaller states like Delaware and New Jersey objected to the Virginia Plan saying that the large states would easily outvote them in Congress if the number of votes were based on the population. The smaller states had a valid point because the larger states would be most likely to get the vote, while the smaller states would be easily out voted. Since the smaller states opinions would be overlooked, it would cause the smaller states to believe that they have less power than the larger states.
3. Larger states didn’t like the plan because they wanted more power. They would get more representatives because of their population so they were more likely to win votes.
4. The Great Compromise, proposed by Robert Sherman, would give equal representation to each state. Each state would have two senators that would be chosen by the state legislature, which satisfied the small states. The House of Representatives would base representation on a state’s population (one representative for every 30,000 people in the state) and members would be elected by all of the voters in the state, satisfying the more populous large states. In my opinion, the larger states have more control over the smaller states
