The caffeine in coffee is not bad for students as long as they do not drink too much. Coffee is an important drink in many people’s mornings. Even if it is not healthy for them, they will not stop drinking it completely. Four different articles: CB Staff, University Times, The Bottom Line, and Study Magazine talked about the caffeine in coffee. Many college students are now resorting to the use of coffee to keep them awake. There are positive and negative effects from the caffeine in coffee. The debate is, are there enough negative effects to out way the positive effects though? Most people are addicted to coffee, so they are willing to do anything, or let anything happen to them for the cup of coffee a day. Students rely on coffee so much they are willing to stand in line for 20-30 minutes just for a cup. Starbucks is normally not a fast pace coffee shop, but they are a well know coffee shop. People are willing to wait. The caffeine in coffee is not always bad for people. In the article from The Bottom Line, WebMD revealed that there were studies done that showed caffeine was able to reduce risks of getting diabetes, gallstones, Parkinson’s disease and liver disease. The caffeine also improves your senses, mood, and brain activity. There are many negative effects from the caffeine in coffee that people do not realize. If a person is drinking coffee with caffeine after 2:00 in the afternoon then it will affects their night’s sleep. University Times states, “It is know that REM cycle sleep is necessary for effective learning and memory, but all that coffee being consumed to stay awake is doing more harm than good.” One cup of coffee a day will be fine with your body.
