Contemporary Art Research Paper

What truly is a work of art is defined by perspective, the feelings that come towards a work. The different interpretations of a piece of work even, what the physical piece looks like itself. How people view art has drastically changed over the years, but one thing still remains the same, art is a creation by the artist for the people. Classical art appears majestic with large marble statues to elaborate paintings cased in decorative frames, but that has drastically changed in contrast to contemporary art which appears very unordinary. You see, contemporary art can range from tall metal configurations to random paint splatter on a canvas, even a garbage can. Contemporary art can either be strange and confusing or, it can be a masterpiece, depending on the type of person. It is all about interpretation, most of the time you can't look at a piece of contemporary art and immediately tell what it is. Contemporary artists are visionaries of something that they create that is very hard to understand to the untrained eye. Jackson Pollock a very open minded person has pieces in museums around the world, when some of the people look at Pollock's work they see a forest and trees, even cities, others describe it as random lines that with some paint they themselves could do. Chances are if you feel that way you most likely favor classical art. When looking at classic art most people can automatically tell what it is, for instance, consider Monet's Water Lilies or Rembrandt's Storm On The Sea Of Galilee, the majority of the people who see these pieces will not be saying I can do that any time soon. These pieces are considered true art and can be appreciated for the picture they portray. You don't have to think very hard to know what a painting portrays.They have interpreted these as wonders to the eye that can truly be appreciated and deserve the title of art.
