In the film directed by Jon Turteltaub, Cool Runnings there are many important ideas throughout the film which are Identity, Determination and Acceptance. In this essay i will be showing how the 3 ideas were shown and used to show that they were important throughout this essay.

Throughout the film we see a lot of the determination going on. We know this as in the wide shot scene in the end where the jamaican bobsled team's bobsled crashes and when they don’t give up where they crashed and they just pick up their sled and carry on to the finish line determined to finish the race.This shows determination as the Jamaican bobsleigh team didn’t give up as they determined to finish the race. This is also shown in the over the shoulder scene where Junior confronts his father and he tells him that he won’t be going back home with him and that he’ll stay at

We know this and in the wide shot scene at the end we see Juniors father standing there supporting the team by wearing the Jamaican shirt and cheering them on while he looking proudly at his son junior This shows acceptance as this is quite surprising as in most of the scenes Juniors father didn’t accept Junior but now he accepts that he isn’t a kid anymore and can make his own decisions. Acceptance is also shown in the two shot scene with Yosef and Derrice as in the end Yosef accepts the bobsled team as he says “You did good Jamaica, see you in 4 years”. This shows acceptance as throughout the film when ever Yosef popped up he never accepted and approved of Jamaica but in the end we see him clapping for them and saying “ You did good Jamaica, see you in 4 years” which shows he accepts the jamaican bobsleigh team and that he’s also looking forward to meeting them again. And these are some of the examples that are shown of acceptance throughout the film that shows that the idea acceptance is important as it teaches us to trust and treat others equally with
