One of the biggest themes in the novel The Road by Cormac McCarthy is death. Death is talked about from beginning to end in this novel. It is not only talked about but also is shown a lot because it’s all around them, whether they are running away from cannibals or starving to death and there is nothing that they can do to stop it. Death is personified throughout this entire novel and one example of this is when the man is explaining to the boy why they have to go south.
