The purpose of this experiment was to find out the effects of different types of liquids on the mass of an egg. My hypotheses were, “If the egg is soaking in water, its mass will decrease because there is a high concentration of water inside of the egg so some corn syrup will diffuse out of the egg.” and “If the egg is soaking in the corn syrup, its mass will increase because there is a lower concentration of corn syrup in the egg so some corn syrup will diffuse into the egg.”

The results of this experiment did not support either of my hypotheses. I thought the mass of the egg that was soaking in 150 mL of corn syrup (Egg A) would increase because there would be a high concentration of corn syrup molecules outside of the egg and a low concentration
