Luther is a film about a monk named Martin Luther and his battle against the corruption in the Catholic Church. The film starts with a scene of Luther’s life on the line and he makes a promise to devote himself to God if he is saved and becomes a monk, to the dismay of his parents. When he goes to Rome for church business he witnesses fellow priests hiring prostitutes, people paying for passed on loved ones to enter heaven and for their sins to be forgiven. Luther purchased one of these indulgences for his grandfather to enter heaven, and when he received the paper he saw it for what it was, fraud.
