A cosmetologist is a person who is an expert in the care of hair and makeup, as well as skincare and beauty products. They offer services such as haircuts, coloring, extentions and perms. I am interested in this field of work, and I have been since I was a little girl. The thought of being able to do what I love, and make money while doing it, is very exciting.
Cosmetology is one of the highest achievements I will be able to make happen in my life. My main reason to attend cosmetology school is to furthur my education and to pursue a career in something I am very passionate about. I see this as an oppurtunity to achieve my dreams, to experience new things, and to find out who I am through my work. I love everything about becoming a cosmetologist, from meeting new people, to making people feel better about themselves and their physical appearance. I have the never ending love and support from my family and friends, and I know that this career will take me far for as long as I choose to pursue it.

Most states have education and age restrictions. These tests can include written or practical tests. And sometimes both. For these tests you will need to know many things such as sanitation rules, chemical usage, hair styling techiniques, and state laws. You also have to be able to style a manequin or model. Some states also make you take an oral exam in which they will be required to verbally answer any questions that they may have about cosmetology. Also, many states have licenses for each cosmetology specialty, and some states combine each specialty on one license. After recieving your license you may have to renew it by paying a fee and filling out the appropriate paperwork. Cosmetologists that hold a license in one state may have to get an additional license for a different state, if they choose to move or work in another
