Period 5 To become a cosmetologist you only need to have your high school GED, but they also require you to go through at least 2 years, and at most 5 years of beauty school, most of that depends on what you want to specialize in, hair, make up, spa treatment, waxing, nails. All of that ties into being a cosmetologist, you have to be able to multitask, and do a lot of things on hand. The job expects you to be able to get along well with people, answer the phone at all times, make appointments for themselves and others, clean and sanitize their tools and work area, sell products, be organized. The salary of a cosmetologist is normally about $26,550 for average ($11.12 per hour), but that's not including tips. For entry level, or beginner it would be $17,010 ($8.18 per hour) still not including tips. And for expert would be $44,220 a year, ($21.26 per hour), so you really have to work your way up in the cosmetology world. So if you wanted to become a cosmetologist there are many different jobs that you could chose from, but they mostly all pay the same, salary wise. This job is almost always in high demand due to many people don't like the way they get payed or they aren't interested but the way you get paid depends on how long you've worked in this field. Becoming a cosmetologist takes a lot of focus and math, because you have to measure many of things, keep clean, and also be able to make appointments.
