In the beginning of the semester, the class took a quiz called Living to 100 that calculated how long our life expectancy was on average, give or take five years. The quiz estimated a person’s life by asking the participant questions about their personal life choices, as well as their family history through genetics. The reasons these questions affect a person’s life expectancy is because diseases and genetic problems can be passed on by blood relatives, and the personal choices a person makes, such as the choice to smoke tobacco or the choice to exercise daily can either increase or decrease their health. From taking this quiz, I learned that I am expected to live until I am ninety-three, or somewhere close to that age range so long as no unforeseeable unfortunate occurrences happen. …show more content…
However, learning that I still have around seventy years helped put into perspective the fact that, if I want to live happy and comfortably, I need to being thinking about my future and possibly even start saving for retirement now. In writing this paper, I will be calculating my cost of living, looking into the amount of money I intent to earn from the career path I have currently chosen, and research when I need to start saving for retirement and the best way to go about it to live securely once I am older without having to rely on other people to take care of me. I always thought that once I grew too old to take care of myself that I would simply go to a resting home, but with living until I am ninety, I am realizing that I want to be able to live a lifestyle of my choice without struggling to support myself or ending up in an adult facility where I am
