Counter Argumentative Immigration

For this essay, I introduce a counter argument for the claim in a 2011 New York Times article on the negatives of immigration into the U.S. This article puts forth that immigration takes jobs from American workers, creating huge economic burdens on our health care system, and the education system. My counterargument creates the notion that immigration into the United States, whether legal or illegal, can actually be beneficial. This includes how immigration can help the economy through consumer spending, entrepreneurship, and labor force participation. Furthermore, immigration can also help diversify the U.S., which can also help create more stability within the country. Although people argue that immigrants take away jobs from the American
