Nursing deals with complex phenomen, wide range of interventions
As a nurse you will be regarded as a knowledgeable authority and may be asked to provide answers to a range of questions raised by patients, family, etc.
What forms and sources of evidence will you seek – who or what will you use to help you decide?
Many clients will be highly knowledgeable of their own conditions and this must be respected – especially those with chronic illnesses
May have access to immediate information on the web.

Other consideration: type of question you would ask source chosen should be one that can best answer the question

Nurses are expected to: have the skills sets to located sources of evidence from nursing science, other sciences and humanitites to support the provision of safe, competent and ethical nursing practice and client care (CRNBC)
Professional standrds and codes of practice are resources that all nurses should first seek and always refer to. They provide regulation/direction on many discipline specific topics including the sources of scientific knowledge to support the provision of safe, competent and ethical nursing practice and client care
Terms such a systematic and standardized are typically used to describe the process of scientific (Critical) inquiry.

What sources of knowledge do most front line nurses typically draw on to inform and guide their nursing practice?
Survey from 1999 found that most participants reported drawing most frequently on patient data, their prior care experience and knowledge from their basic nursing education.
