Humana Inc. 500 West Main Street Louisville, KY 40202 Dear Hiring Manager, After researching Humana’s website and analyzing the Pharmacy Finance Analyst position description, I am particularly interested in pursuing this opportunity with Humana. I believe that my strengths in working with diverse groups, mastery of computer skills in Microsoft Excel, experience in corporate finance and teamwork experience match well with the position. During the summer of 2009 I interned as a Funds Control Specialist at Monsanto Companies corporate headquarters in St. Louis. Over the course of three months I developed recommendations that could potentially be used by management for system process improvements of reporting income paid to foreign entities in the United States. I worked cross functionally with other departments and management to obtain system data, legal requirements, and overall implementation concerns for the project that I was given. This practical experience builds on my rigorous finance education and taught me real world applications of finance, such as how different generations of employees work together to create solutions that are beneficial to the company. As an Honors Peer Tutor for the Kelley School of Business “Computers in Business - K204” course, I was able to impact my internship as a Funds Control Specialist from day one, applying the use of functions such as pivot tables and data mining to provide clear relevant charts and graphs to management. Additionally, with membership and leadership roles as VP of Alumni Relations & Co-Chair with the Alpha Kappa Psi professional business fraternity throughout four years at IU, I have further refined my business skills. By creating a Scholarship Fund in excess of $8000, regularly giving formal presentations to 70+ of my peers and launching a mentorship program over the course of a year with 74 alumni and active participants, I learned to strategize both short and long term goals, while increasing alumni interaction. My rigorous educational experience, extracurricular activates, corporate finance experience, and personal drive to succeed will make an immediate impact to Humana’s bottom line. I’m seeking a prestigious company where I can build a long term career, and believe Humana is that company. I welcome the opportunity to interview with your team and have attached a copy of my resume for your consideration. Please feel free to email or call me at the information below. Thank you for your time and consideration.
