Coyote is found in many Native cultures a few are Navajo, Mayan, Hopi, and Apache. Coyote is one of only a handful of gods that a lot of tribes have in common. His stories are told as warnings and for entertainment, mostly to children but some do have adult humor in them. Coyote usually appears as a trickster, but can be seen from time to time as a hero as well. I Lakota Legends most of his stories are very adult and would never be told to a child.

Coyote is known by the name Coyote or first angry, Mica, Maca, or Chirich because of his tricks and that he is quick to anger like a Coyote It said tat Coyote got angry over the first man calling him Coyote and that is where the name first angry came from. They normally start with something like this. In the time of the first man, the world went through a time of cleaning where the rains fell and flooded everything, where earthquakes tore the world into two, and stars fell from the sky. The first man realizing there was no way to live on the earth went deep with te earth and stayed there for a very long time Then one-day Coyote poked his head into the first man's hole and told the first man, the first man poke his head out and thought it looked very safe. Now this is where stories from defiant tribes take a turn, and because I need to use this story for another story for another god, I will end it here wit just saying that Coyote was playing a very evil trick on the first man, and it was not safe at all. Why I find this story so interesting is because of the fact many tribes no matter where they are from having the same Emergence story even though they did not speak the same language. It is not often that native tribes all share the same stories, more or less gods. That is why I find Coyote truly an amazing God. On a personal note, one of my fave stories is to man woman, it is where he goes into a camp of nothing but woman,that have never seen a man, and shows the leaders what a man can do, well in the end there are way to man woman for him and they begin to beat him for not being able to do what he said he could do for
