Time. A.D. 1900s. The Decades. Twenties. Consumerism. Transport. Cars. Mass Production. Craftsmanship. Although craftsmanship is an important skill in expressing one's individuality, the development of mass production is an essential technique because it helped to reduce the price of goods, enhance the efficiency and satisfy the material demands of society. The 1920s sometimes called The Roaring Twenties or the Jazz Age was an extensive period of modernization, consumerism, and intricacy (Alchin). The 20s was a time period of great achievements in the aviation industry mainly due to the commercialization of airplanes. One such accomplishment is a solo transatlantic flight to France, which was done by one of the decade’s greatest heroes – Charles Lindbergh (“The 1920s Science and Technology: Overview”). Henry Ford was another major figure who had a significant impact on the twenties. He didn’t invent the automobile; rather Henry Ford designed and used new manufacturing techniques, such as mass production, which allowed vast quantities of cars to be produced for a lower value (“Henry Ford”). Innovations and achievements in this decade came forth to modify the course history would take. The advancement of mass production over craftsmanship stood as one of these alterations and it drastically changed life in the twenties. More than a million items such as cars were on the streets through the use of the assembly line. Along with the invention of this technique came lower prices on goods, a system of greater efficiency and helped to satisfy the high demands of the public.
