Creatine is a compound that attaches to a phosphate in ATP and allows muscules to be at maximum intensity for a longer period of time. Sadly though, people have figured out how to create creatine, and use it as a performance-enhancing drug (PED). Although, coaches have a responsibility to monitor this drug and use of all PED’s many look the other way, or worry that it is an issue of privacy. While the coaches are trying to respect their athletes by not interfering they are only hurting them. Creatine, as a PED, should be baned because it is a health problem, is unfair to athletes who do not use drugs, and can lead to more drug use. People argue that creatine is produced naturally, so it is not bad for your body. Also, athletes think that there are no serious side effects to takeing creatine. As soon as athletes get in their mind that it is okay to use creatine supplements, it is okay to use a drug, they will think that it is okay to use more serious drugs. Also, as soon as a person uses a drug there is an addiction starting. For example, when someone uses creatine supplements and feels the effects the drug has on their body they will be more likely to use it more often, and even try new drugs. With the creatine supplement masking the drugs, the athletes are on a deadly path. Hence, to keep athletes away from addiction, amd on a strait, clean path creatine supplements should be banned. All in all, coaches have a responsibilty to themselves and their players to prevent them from taking any performance-enhancing drugs, including creatine supplements. With that being said, athletes also have a responsibility to themselves and their coaches not to use drugs. Thus, creatine supplements should be banned just like any other harmful drug because of health issues, unfairness, and its ability to lead to more drug
