Creating a concept map assisted me in continuing competence by researching new knowledge that enhanced my competence in clinical practice (CNO, 2014). I gathered my findings to a more organized and simplified concept map where it was easy to refer to during clinical practice. I demonstrated this by creating a concept map that has enhanced my knowledge in understanding the patient’s condition more quickly and in turn has assisted me in retaining knowledge about brain injuries. Veronese et al. (2013) found the use of concept maps has proven to increase exam performance, retention and organization of knowledge, as well assist in problem management. In this concept map, I listed certain symptoms that may occur relating to a brain injury. For example,
