Wayne had been away from Croyden Harbour for a little more than two years, when he finally ventured back to the community that knew him as a young boy. Wayne was no longer that boy; he went by the name Annabel now and had the curves of femininity to accompany his feminine name. Wayne had stopped hormone therapy during his two years in the big city and had discovered and embraced his various gender traits, far from this place that had tried to define him in his youth. Annabel felt some apprehension being back home as a different person, as her complete self. How would people react when they saw her now? “There’s a whole world out there for us Wally and I’d really like to discover it with you” Annabel told Wally with a hopeful rise of her eyebrows.

Wally cautiously looked up to meet Annabel’s gaze, “The truth is Wayne, I’m scared to leave, but I’m also scared that if I stay, I will look back and regret not taking the chance,”
Annabel reached across the table and laid her hand on Wally’s, “Taking chances isn’t always easy; maybe it isn’t always considered smart either, but it does let a person grow.
