She Helped Me Do It
“I won! I can’t believe it.” mumbled Tom to himself “she pulled through, it worked!”
The elections had just ended and Tom emerged onto the balcony as the new World Wide
President. His nerves melted away once the chanting of the crowds roared inside his ears. He made it, he thought , everything he wanted is now his. But how?
June 16, 2195 two weeks before the elections. Tom’s nerves were getting the best of him.
He’s seen the ratings he knows, undoubtedly, what’s going to happen . The odds were against him, how can he compete, why does he even bother?
Only one thing could ease him now, his morning coffee. His secretary ,Eveena Lived, brought it to him everyday at the same time and never faltered. She was an oldfashioned woman, her hair was shaved at the sides, but her tattoos were nothing but unique. She had a pitch fork on her wrist which rose up the side of her arm, she had two horns one on each temple, and a long red tail that curled down the side of her leg.
“Black on sugar?” she said humbly but there was a raspy low tone in her voice. He looked up from his desk startled, but was relieved to see her because for him, coffee was better than any medication for his nerves.
“Yes, yes come in‘, he said and quickly ushered her in.”Does somthing trouble you, you seem weary”, she said in the same cunning voice. “No it’s just that i have a lot on my mind right

now” , he said and didn’t realise how much he was perspiring or that his face and hands shared the same pale complexion. All this thinking was making him ill on the inside and it was beginning to show on the outside. He turned not knowing that that the slur of sounds was coming from her.”Excuse me, did you say something ?” he demanded.
“I said is there anything I can help you with?” He looked towards the window smiling
“not unless you can help me with the election”, he mocked. She turned toward him her green eyes seemed brighter as though that was the exact response she was looking for. “What?” he asked noticing the twinkle in her eye.
There was a knock on the door.
“Oh, I didn't know that you had company”, said a woman as she glowered at his secretary. Distracted from the previous moments he stuttered quickly, “ no, it’s um… she was just handing me my coffee, Molly”
“I see”, she replied looking at the tray on the table next to him. “Well I should be off then”, said Eveena, “good luck with your problem. ” She gave a cold look over her shoulder to
Molly as she walked out the door. “Why havent you told me you had problems?” interrogated
Molly, “and why have you been telling her ?” He contemplated on how to answer the question, for he heard a patent tone of jealousy in her voice. “I’m sure she she just guessed I was stressed from the coming events and assumed I was troubled.” As he said the words he thought of the real reason she had offered interest in his wellbeing and what information was she about to convey to him before Molly walked in.
She left shortly after an ephemeral conversation about how she didn’t trust her and on what he preferred, a blue or black suit for tonight’s charity ball with the other candidate.

The hours came and went a lot sooner than he anticipated. No amount of coffee can prepare him for what was about to come. He was about to meet his mortal nemesis, his eternal enemy, his. . . competing candidate. The elections were different now since the President would be in charge of the entire world instead of one single country. There usually isn’t an election without the two candidates not knowing each other so soon to the deadline, which was on New
Years. The preceding president was assassinated just a few months ago and the governors of his two main provinces would be next in line for the ultimate presidency; Tom Woodrow and Bill
Hampshire.
The ball was nothing as he expected and he was surprised
