Creon's Punishment In Antigone

Creon, King of Thebes, has rightfully sentenced Antigone to death due to her lawlessness behavior. After the death of Polynices, Antigone's brother, King Creon passed a law in which no one was to bury Polynices -- the traitor. Antigone impertinently buried her brother, disregarding Creon’s then established law. By defying the king's laws and acting on her own, Antigone created a contentious issue throughout the city. Antigone’s punishment was appropriate considering how she disobeyed the law and if no action was taken, other people would go against the government.
