Ever wonder how a lot of animals came into existence. Well, most of the animals in our present are the evolution of the animals that were in our past. We should remember that even we, humans also evolved from Apes. Today I will be sharing an animal that has evolved into one of the strongest sea predators today, the Great White shark.
About 100 million years ago there was a species of sharks that are known as Cretolamna sharks. The fossils of this shark was founded about all over the world. From the investigation of Fossil, it was found that these sharks ranged from Cretaceous to the Mid-Miocene in age. The fossils of these sharks were mostly teeth and vertebrae. Cretolamna was a successful shark generation because Cretolamna sharks lived with dinosaur and it is also believed that some Cretolamna shark species survived the Cretaceous-Tertiary also known as K-T extinction in which the dinosaurs were unable to survive. Cretolamna sharks were named by Glikman in 1958. Because of sharp teeth of Cretolamna sharks, they were best suited to kill larger preys. Cretolamna appendiculata is one of the

Great White is the strongest predator in sea. From the newly found fossil of carcharodon Hubbeli, many researchers believes that Great White is more closely related to Mako sharks then Megalodon, many Paleontologists also believe that Megalodon is like great uncle of Great white shark; same as Megalodon Great White rules the seas and oceans today. Reason behind the evolution of great white is that Mako sharks developed big tooth and became Great White. All of the info for Great White is founded from the article “Shark Teeth Tell Great White Shark Evolution Story | Smithsonian Ocean Portal” and “450 Million Years of Sharks” the web links for the articles are : https://ocean.si.edu/ocean-news/shark-teeth-tell-great-white-shark-evolution-
