Off With Your Head In Kansas City the average crime rate per year is 28,639 violent and property crimes. We, compared to every city in the United States are one on the least safest cities. We are 4% safer than every city, 100 being the safest (“Crime Rates…”). In the renaissance crime was a lot more abundant, because there were less laws and regulations to stop people. The punishment also had more variety than the consequences today; today the penalty is mostly jail, community service, or the death penalty. But, in the Renaissance there was being burned, boiled alive, beheaded, hanging, and being beat to death. Crimes in the Renaissance era were often committed and followed up by merciless consequences.

But, crimes very often led to a death. One common way of this was non governmental killings dealt out by rival clans (Kesseling 421-440). Many up close combats were easily won by the use of a new invention, the wheel lock pistol (Kesseling 421-440). Another weapon commonly used was knives. This also opened up the option to use poison (Kesseling 421-440). Many kings and queens had tasters. Their job was to test the food or drink being sent up them. This prevented rapid poison from killing the royals. But, unfortunately this didn't stop more slower killing poison from getting into their systems. Renaissance was a time where people dabbled in magic and voodoo. Casting spells on people was supposed to “curse” them, but instead they didn't work. People also attempted voodoo. They would make wax figures with that resembled the victims, then add pieces of clothing, hair, etc. (Kesseling 421-440). They would attempt to control them and eventually kill them. Lastly, sixty-two citizens were killed due to political reasons . It was very easy to be trialed as guilty in the
