My industry which is local law enforcement is made up of patrolman detectives, sergeants, lieutenants, major, colonels, and chiefs. The director who serves as the chief executive officer is responsible for the many moving parts of the department that are run like any other corporations that have employees, management, competitors, and stakeholders. The law enforcement officials are tasked with the duties of enforcing statutes, laws, and regulations developed to protect life and property. Police officers must be educated on the individual rights of offenders as well as the civil liberties of the citizens(U.S. Criminal Justice System., 2018). However, there are specific guidelines created by state and federal directives(The Role and Structure of Courts., 2018). Corrections is another industry affected by law enforcement and their productivity. This portion of the justice system is designed for the convicted offender who is serving a sentence that was commanded by the courts. The corrections division manages the sentenced individuals as they serve their punishment. The staff with the corrections system is represented by the corrections, probation, and parole officers. The department of corrections extends past the offenders time in custody with stipulations such as parole where an officer provides supervision after release and probation which the court monitors both adult and juveniles activities(U.S. Criminal Justice System., 2018). Within the criminal justice system, you have three industries that operate and function off of each other. Law enforcement can not work without the courts or correction and vice versa.
