In America, there is a lot of debate about whether or not the justice system is racially biased. I feel that the justice system is not racially biased. I feel that they have made very reasonable decisions on the punishments that African Americans and whites receive for what they’ve done. There is evidence in many different texts and articles. Many people would agree, but there are many opposing sides to this argument.
In the text “Is the Criminal Justice System Racist?”, it states that “In 2006, about one in 33 black men were in prison, compared with one in 205 white men, and one in 79 Hispanic men.” I see that a lot of people mistakenly think that there are more black men imprisoned than white men. This statistic shows that there are a significant amount of white men in prison also. There are even more Hispanic men than black men. “Blacks and whites are arrested at very different rates, are convicted at very different rates, and receive very different sentences for the same crime.” This statement shows that blacks and whites are judged differently, but their past criminal record

There is a number of things that are looked at like your family history, sibling history, medical record, criminal record, and more. The justice system actually takes your criminal record into consideration. If a white man kills someone and a black man kills someone, but the black man has robbed a bank and killed another person before, then who do you think will get the longer term? The black man most definitely would because this isn’t the first time he’s disobeyed the law. This is why I feel that people of America should actually investigate what they’re looking at before they make false
