Crooks and Marginalization
The novel of Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck takes place during the Great Depression in 1930’s. Two friends George Milton and Lennie Small travel to different farms looking for work. George is a small man who is grumpy most of the time, while Lennie is a big man with a mental disability that makes him unable to take care of himself. They find work on a ranch near Salinas where they meet some new people. Among the people they meet is a stable buck named Crooks who is also the only black man on the ranch.
