American slavery has always been a topic people believe as brutal, cruel, inhumane, and horrible. Years ago, slaves were forced to forget about freedom of life that we American’s now take for granted.
Slavery was one of many forms of exploitation. It also included that slaves were property. They were bought and sold. They were forced to go where ever their “master” told them to go. They didn’t even have a right to their own sexuality. They could not reproduce unless their master gave approval. There were beat, whipped and even sometimes killed for not listening to their “master”. It was illegal to teach any slave to read or write. The one who taught them and the slave would both be punished by death.
