Cuba may look like a small country, but it has an amazing history, it's full of revolutions and wars about freedom. Cuba is the largest single island of the archipelago and Cuba is one of the most influential country in the Caribbean region. In 1492 Cuba was found by a man that till this day is known all over the world Christopher Columbus. Spain claimed Cuba to be the Spanish Empire's most important resource of raw sugar. Spain fought many battles to keep Cuba under Spanish power. Spain maintained control of Cuba all the way until 1898 until the United States and the Cuban forces became allies and fought for Cuba’s independence in the American Cuban war. Cuban recipes are a mixture of American, Taino, Spanish, African, and Caribbean cuisines. Some of Cuba's spices ingredients come from Spanish and African cooking. As an effect over Spanish colonization over Cuba it has inspired the dish cuisine from Spain. The most common side dishes in Cuba are beans and rice sometimes corn but it's a rare choice for a side dish. Beans, rice, and corn are one of the most harvested in Cuba, it's rare for Cubans to create fast food companies or microwaved dishes. In Cuba it's a tradition to serve meat with light spices and rice as a side dish. The most famous and well known spice in Cuba is a spice named mojo or mojito, this sauce is made out of oil, garlic, onion, and spices such as Oregano and bitter oranges. Although people choose not to even have one kid do the difficult economy and era they are living in they fear that they will not be able to provide for them nor care for them because of their concentration on bringing food to the house.
