America is the home of many different culture and ethnic backgrounds. In America has a vas diversity in cultural groups that have develop since the years of when America was established. One-way assimilation is the main primes on how this country was functioning as a country. But as time when one many different people came to America and brought their culture and customs with them (cultural baggage). "The Perception of Racism Has Eclipsed Actual Racism’ she says, “Race continues to be a powerful force in society—84 percent of blacks and 66 percent of whites view it as a serious problem in American life” (para 1). This shows how the both sides of ethnic groups when it comes down to the idea of race or color. Having a one-way assimilation supports or gives merit to those who have cultural baggage that live in America to reject them. According to Holloway, Camara Dia. “Critical Race Art History” she says, American history in art is a way to demonstrate culture and bring together people from different background and bring people closer though the use of art (89). What she means by this is that the historic paintings of presidents and slavery demonstration a pint of view of how America as a country has evolved.
