“Slut, whote, idiot, stupid, spoiled, ugly, awlful!” These are just some of the many words and phrases that students have been subjected to hearing continually. As a result, some students have made decisions from which they cannot come back from. Whether or not cyberbullying occurs off campus, schools should track down and punish the students who partake because these students are affecting the development of their peers which translates into peers’ behavrio and performance in school. Therefore, punishing students will send the message that being the instigator of such an emotionally damaging act as cyberbullying will not be taken lightly, it sets the precendent that there will be consequences, and the overall hope is to reduce the deaths associated with cyberbullying. Cyberbullying affects the personal and school life of a child. The reason being that they are harassed and embarassed. The story of Jessica Logan in Source E states that she endured “months of harassment and teasing” (Source E). Logan’s life at school was barely livable due to harassment. Cyberbullies redicule with no sense of shame and fear of reprecussion. Source C depicts the type of harassment explained in Source E. For example, cyberbullies “could face supspension or law enforcement” (Source F). With the possibility of enduring such a punishment, students will be less prone to cyberbullying. This is the change that must occur. In addition, Source E makes clear that schools need to asset authoriy over actions such as cyberbullying .
