1.1 Explain the value of a child-centred model of assessment and planning
The child-centred model of assessment and planning is a framework of ascertaining a broader needs of a child and ensuring their effective participation and engagement in planning. It accounts for issues like the age, stage of development, likes and dislikes, individual targets and goals. Targets and goals are appropriately set and fair. The model creates a good working environment and activities are purposely designed for effective participate and learn more effectively.

The location must not restrict their engagement. Additionally, unlike adult which it may be believed that using one delivery mechanism would be appropriate for their understanding of issues, every engagement with children may require different methods for the easy understanding of the same situation and be able to effectively participate and be engaged in planning. Activities such as a play may be organized where the drama or acts will send messages to them regarding the situation they want them to know or be aware of or enlightened about as well as taking feedbacks. Also, the approach must allow children and young people set the ground rules. This will help them voice out what may allow them to participate effectively and not hinder their contributions. This would produce a better result when compared to the circumstance of allowing such rules to be dominated by adult imposing many conditions that may adversely affect their engagement. It must be absolutely ignored that the contribution should strictly be written. The individual learning styles should be much valued.
