Cyrano de Bergerac was a real life person. Bergerac was a famous swordsman in a group called the gascon of Musketeers. Before his life as a philosopher and playwright he was a soldier, but he was wounded twice once that was also in the book which was “the second time at the siege of Arras in 1640 by a sword to the neck.” Pierre Gassendi was Cyrano’s mentor also brilliant mathematician and philosopher. He influenced Cyrano’s works The States and Empires of the Moon and The Sun. Both writings were about Cyrano’s trip to space. Cyrano didn’t stop there he also wrote two plays La Mort d’Agrippine which was about blasphemy and Le Pédant joué which was about his student life and how it was miserable.
