Sometimes we need to take risk and go beyond our comfort zone to really get what we want. We shouldn’t assume we would never get something without trying. Cyrano De Bergerac does teach us this lesson. He is an expert at expressing his thoughts in an artistic way and could fight a hundred men all alone but only lacked in one thing which held him back in many ways. This movie is one that tests all of your emotions from bursting out laughing to having your heart drop. It tells a love story but very different from the usual love stories we see today.
Cyrano de Bergerac is a 1990 French drama film directed by Jean-Paul Rappeneau and was based on play written by Edmond Rostand. Rappeneau did justice to the play and made every character come to life. The title gives away that the story is based on a man named Cyrano De Bergerac

Depardieu overall performance was incredible because we could feel and understand what he was going through and he made us admire him and also sympathize with him.
The most romantic part of the movie is when Christian is telling Roxane how he feels towards her under the trees while she in the balcony. The music that is added to this scene makes it more serious and romantic. The music with the storm in the night that was used creates more passion and really stirs up your emotions. Also, during the fighting scenes the music was more upbeat and quick, which was effective to use during fighting scenes because it was a faster pace.
Since, I do not know French, I had to watch this movie using English subtitles and sometimes I would forget I was reading the subtitles to understand what was happening because the subtitles allowed me to follow through the whole movie and it was very well done.
