Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, should not be rescinded until another solution is developed. DACA provides work permits and an education to illegal immigrants who may not have these opportunities otherwise. In order to be accepted into the program, candidates have to fit a number of requirements, including the following: they had to be thirty or younger when the program was launched, brought to the U.S. before the age of sixteen, and not have a criminal record. Rescinding DACA takes away the chance of a better life for many immigrants, and while DACA may not be the best solution, the program should remain available until a better one is created. There needs to be many steps taken in order to develop a permanent solution to this elaborate situation. While DACA is not the ideal fix, the program was a step in the right direction. Also, many of the reasons the Trump team gave for it’s removal were proven to false or a stretch at best. One of the key points Trump highlighted in his statement on DACA were the issues (in particular, relating to the American economy and citizen’s safety) illegal aliens create, such as “lower wages and higher unemployment for American workers, substantial burdens on local schools and hospitals, the illicit entry of dangerous drugs and criminal cartels, and many billions of dollars a year in costs paid for by U.S. taxpayers,”. However, Politifact goes on to prove the majority of his statements to be exaggerated or false in Fact-checking Attorney General Jeff Sessions on the DACA immigration program, especially the points revolving around the American workforce. The article states “...immigration’s impact on the wages and employment of native-born workers were “very small,” and “...the negative impact was borne mostly by prior immigrants or Americans without a high school degree,”. The argument that illegal immigrants make American citizens unemployable is inaccurate, and the reason most Americans remain unemployed is due to not having a high school/ higher education
