Hammurabi’s Code was not just, because it not only had unfair punishments, but it caused people to live in constant fear of the severe consequences of their actions. One example that supports this assertion is, according to Document C, (family laws) law 129, “ If a married lady is caught (in adultery) with another man, they shall bind them and cast them into the water.” This quote illustrates that within these laws, the punishment is often a lot worse than the crime.
