When I was younger, my shyness would hold me back from all activities. My mom was with twenty-four seven because I timid to be on my own. Dance was the one way I was able to express myself without my extreme shyness taking over. It gave me this sense of self-confidence. Ever since then, I knew dance had to be a part of my life. After dancing all through elementary, middle, and high school, I enrolled at Folsom Lake College in over to get my degree in dances studies. With Folsom being a long drive from my house, American River College is were I am completing the general education corses needed for my degree. After completing junior college, I plan to transfer to either California State University Long Beach or Irvine to farther my education in dance and become the dancer I have wanted to be since I was little. …show more content…
Babysitting seemed to come naturally to me. When I turn thirteen, I started volunteering at my church's preschool, teaching the little ones about loving one another. It was then that I realized teaching is what I am called to do with my life. Not as a teacher in a regular classroom with textbooks and lectures but as a dance teacher in a studio. I want to create a positive atmosphere where children can explore their bodies though moving art and tap into the part of them that does not always get to be seen in everyday activities. At the moment I teach basic ballet to six to eight year-olds at Northern California Dance Conservatory. I love all my students and their constant want to learn new things, and their enthusiasm inspires me to want to learn more about different dance and teaching styles in order to provide every student a better
