President Furgeson,
I wanted to bring to your attention a current issue. I am the advisor for Daniel Boylan.
Daniel came to our program under the recommendation of Dr. Sushil Sharma of Ball State and we have diligently worked to meet the expectations of Dan’s boss Dr. Manoj Athavale. It has been communicated repeatedly the reason for this recommendation and these requests were that Ball State wanted to keep Mr. Boylan as an employee and promote him to a tenure track position. We have worked with the requests of both of these Ball State employees by accommodating on several parts of the curriculum to ensure Ball State’s needs were met. Some of the accommodations were: we worked with the AACSB accreditation to ensure the degree exceeded requirements

Boylan has excelled here at Purdue. His GPA is a 3.88, his teaching evaluations (between 4.4 - 4.7 on a scale of 5) are exceptional, and he has 3 publications accepted and 3 articles under review.
It is my understanding that Mr. Boylan has excelled at Ball State. I was informed he is Miller College’s “Contract Faculty of the Year,” the student club he advises won “Organization of the Year,” and he won “Advisor of the Year.” Mr. Boylan on several occasions has gotten Ball State positive national attention with work done with the Consumer Federation of America, an article on Forbes.com, and quotes in the New York Times.
Mr. Boylan had an extremely successful business career as an executive at one of the largest insurance companies in the country before deciding to commit his life to education. In his years of teaching has won 7 “teacher of the year” style

Athavale’s requests in the degree program. These range from degree title to dissertation topic. Being a lawyer that teaches ethics, normal dissertations that I advise are on legal and ethical topics. Knowing the promise made to Mr. Boylan, I accommodated Mr. Athavale’s request. I understand that no tenure track position is available in the Finance area, and Mr. Athavale and Interim Dean Jennifer Bott requested Mr. Boylan create a proposal to present to the Provost. Dr. Bott called the meeting for December 3rd and while in that meeting started with acknowledging the exceptional service Mr. Boylan has provided to the University, then went on to degrade him, his degree, and Purdue University for approximately 45
