It is only okay to expose people to “assist” them under very certain circumstances. When the main purpose is to entertain, or be comical, it is not benefiting the person in need at all. Some Television programs, such as DR. Phil, claim to be a show where people can come to get help, although that isn’t necessarily always the case. Occasionally, there are other times when this exposure is actually to raise awareness and to help, but these situations don’t happen as often. In English class, we watched a video of a Dr. Phil episode where Danielle Bregoli was interviewed alongside her mother, Barbara Bregoli. Mrs Bregoli’s intentions were for Dr. Phil to resolve the ongoing issues between her and Danielle. Instead of trying to help, nevertheless, he pokes fun at the way Danielle talks, making her the laughing stock of the internet. Bregoli is now famous solely for how uneducated and idiotic she sounded on this episode of the show. Ridiculed, is an understatement for the way Danielle was mistreated online after this Video went viral. JR explained how he snapped photos of people in many different walks of life. JR traveled to places that were deemed unsafe, or dangerous. He and his friend Marco were listening to talk about the Middle Eastern conflict. The two artists deemed it their goal to find out “who the real Palestinians and Israelis are” (Ted, 5:30). They captured images of these two “different” people, and with their photos, they showed people from both of the two cultures weren’t really as different as you would think. Their sole purpose was to find an underlying issue and attempt to solve it, which is completely different from the mostly negative DR. Phil
