This letter is in reference to Mr. Bruce Douglas and Mr. Daquan Reade complaint of implying that I was harassing them because of vehicle stop that occurred on 3/25/16 and 3/26/16.
First and foremost I like to insure you that both vehicle stops were spontaneous and at the time of the vehicle stop, I was not aware of who were inside of the vehicle. Since I have been employed with the Town of Fuquay-Varina I have not had any encounters with either party in any capacity.
On 3/25/16, I observed a black Chevrolet Impala being driven by Mr. Daquan Reade without any clear lights on its registration plate. I then activated my blue lights on my marked patrol unit; after the Chevrolet Impala stopped, I then advised dispatch to disregard my vehicle stop. I then turn off my blue lights and drove my marked patrol unit beside of Mr. Reade’s Driver side door and informed him that his tag light is not working. Mr. Reade immediate response was “why am I harassing him”. I advised Mr. Reade that I have never met him before and that all I was doing was informing him of his tag light. Mr. Reade said “ok” and we both parted ways.…show more content… I then initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, Because of the lack of lighting on Lawrence Street, I was not aware that the vehicle was occupied by Daquan Reade at the time. When I approached the vehicle Mr. Reade immediately started to accuse me of harassing him again. I advised Mr. Reade that this was a random stop and I did not know he was driving this vehicle.
