An Italian scholar, by the name of Petrarch said that 500AD through 1500AD was a dark age, every since then called it the "Dark Age". The period of the "Dark Age" was when men got more rights, when the Crusade broke out, wonderful gothic cathedrals, and when the Black Death took it's toll on the world. There was chaos, there was peace and education. The "Dark Age" had many ups and downs, but the "Dark Age" was not really dark.
During the "Dark Age" Europe had many achievements, and improvements. For example, the people of Europe wrote the Magna Carta. According to Document A and C of the First Crusades packet, people were slaughter, taken hostage, and the people who were attacked were peaceful. The people had no weapons, and had no good way to protect themselves all they could do is run until they either were killed or torcher. During the Black Death run against humanity, people died rapidly and the doctors died leaving peoples hopes in the darkness, and families were turning on each other leaving them to die.
