Dark Age Dbq Analysis

An Italian scholar, by the name of Petrarch said that 500AD through 1500AD was a dark age, every since then called it the "Dark Age". The period of the "Dark Age" was when men got more rights, when the Crusade broke out, wonderful gothic cathedrals, and when the Black Death took it's toll on the world. There was chaos, there was peace and education. The "Dark Age" had many ups and downs, but the "Dark Age" was not really dark.
During the "Dark Age" Europe had many achievements, and improvements. For example, the people of Europe wrote the Magna Carta. The Magna Carta was a legal document it was for men to have more rights to have more rights to protect themselves more. According to Document A and C of the First Crusades packet, people were slaughter, taken hostage, and the people who were attacked were peaceful. The people had no weapons, and had no good way to protect themselves all they could do is run until they either were killed or torcher. "Indeed, if you had been there would have seen our feet colored to our ankles with the blood of the slain."(Document C form the First Crusades packet.) Also according to Document B of the Dark Ages packet, Chaos broke out, no one was educated, people were scared to even to get out of their house, and the government could not keep control. "Europe suffered a decline in trade and manufacturing, in education, in literature and the arts, and almost all that makes it possible to have a successful civilization." Last example is in Document is in the Black Death worksheet. During the Black Death run against humanity, people died rapidly and the doctors died leaving peoples hopes in the darkness, and families were turning on each other leaving them to die. "Child abandoned the father, husband the wife, wife the husband, one brother the other, one sister the other." Although the Black Death and the Crusades were devastating, they did not last very long, and the people recovered
