Darling Donations The political action committee that I will be discussing about is the National Beer Wholesalers Association. The amount of donations that was given to this association was a great amount that helped them and they are represented has largest beer distributors. They are supported by creating services and campaigns and with following regulations that are mentioned in the 21 Amendment. In addition, in the past the association had faced struggles and thus decided to use the method lobbying. Also in the later years, they were given donations to help with delivering valuable goods. According to the article, called From the K Street Corridor states about the lobbying efforts in the government during 2002 and they mentioned that, “The National Beer Wholesalers Association-a prominent trade group that is generally considered to be close to Republicans-is giving one of its plum jobs to an in-house Democrat. Laurie Knight, a former aide to a House Democrat and a lobbyist for the association since 1999, is moving up to become director of government affairs. "It's an interesting twist," admits association President David K. Rehr, a Republican, who previously served as the group's top lobbyist. Rehr said he promoted Knight to oversee day-to-day lobbying activities because he didn't want "our aggressive government-affairs operation to lessen" while he focused on non-lobbying duties.” Conferring to the history of its involvement in the political arena, my assessment of the influence in the political arena would be that as you can see that some of the executives are for and against lobbying. As for me, I can understand the perspective of both individuals such as Knight who was for lobbying, in contrast to Rehr who was against lobbying by performing non-lobbying activities. Then in later years, they had a large amount of charity donations which help with their industry goals of strengthening the state-based organization of liquor guideline that facilitates an orderly marketplace; generates a superficial and accountable system of alcohol supply that protects American consumers. Donations are important and this would affect the National Beer Wholesalers Association significantly. Whether in the future they get more donations, it is still considered a positive impact to the association, because less or more money would still make a difference for the National Beer Wholesalers
