In the world of illusion, David Blaine is someone who, at a very young age has learned the in’s and outs of how to amaze the world. At Ted Talks, David illustrates a picture of how he was so adamant in wanting to defy what he had discovered was actually possible. David has broken many records that many people could not accomplish, like standing on a platform hundreds of feet in the air for 36 hours but this time David had something more intriguing to accomplish and that would come from someone whom he admired a lot, Harry Houdini. He held his breath underwater for 3 minutes and that sparked David’s interest in wanting to break the current world record. Generally doctors thought he wouldn't have been able to to live but the child was resuscitated, with no brain injuries and David became fascinated. He completed extensive research on various ways of how to break the record of holding your air, from talking with neuro doctors, learning how to pearl dive to allowing a doctor put in a prototype lung inside of him, made out of a tube and balloon. After trial and error David finally succeed his goal and became the only person ever to be the first breath holder for 17 minutes.

I may not have the same compassion of wanting to hold my breath underwater, David Blaine made me realize that, although someone may say your way is incorrect, with great determination you will be able to accomplish your goals as long as you keep going. My goal is to complete college for the first time in my life without dropping out. Prior, I was going through a lot of family issues that I had to leave. Now that I have a vision of graduating and family issues aren’t a matter any longer, I have a great admiration and determination to do all that I can to get there.
