When reading an essay, the reader doesn’t necessarily know what the author physically appears like. While reading, an image is made up of what the writer looks like not only physically but also mentally. The way the reader perceives the author either keeps them interested or pushes them away. This is why language in an essay is extremely crucial to the authors success. In David Sedaris I Like Guys he shows great examples of language and how to use it to his benefit. Sedaris uses a humorous and sarcastic tone throughout the whole essay which keeps the reader very interested.
Sedaris essay takes place when he was graduating the eighth grade and going into the ninth grade. In his essay, he tells a story about growing up a homosexual around people
