What enabled these men, women, and children to keep their spirits alive were laughter, nature, and love. Even though these three women were unhappy most of the time, they still found happiness. These three women were Ruth Cechova, Anne Frank, and Syvia Perlmutter.

Laughter helped Syvia to keep her spirits up. For example, Document A says “Then they all burst into laughter.” This shows how she made everyone laugh and they were all happy. People didn't just find happiness in laughter, but they also found happiness in love as well.

Nature helped Ruth to see the happiness in things. For example she made a picture of nature while she was in the camps. This helped her realize that there is still hope and that she should never give
