Ataturk’s reforms did improve the status of women in Turkey. According to Henry Allen in document 1, Ataturk’s reforms eliminated some restrictions on women such as the end of wearing veils and the end of wearing veils symbolized women had been given more freedom than before Ataturk’s reforms. Ataturk’s first speech included that women should be as equal as men and they should be allowed to work and obtain their own wealth. In Ataturk’s reforms, women had been given positions in education and industry which was a sign that women could work the same as men.
