Woodrow Wilson states, “The history of liberty is the history of resistance. The history of liberty is a history of limitations of government power, not the increase of it.” This is based on what the people wanted in the new country. Civil liberties are the basic rights of a person, which are protected by the law against government interference. One example of civil liberties is the First Amendment; the freedom of speech, press, religion, assembly, association, and movement. National security protects the country’s territory and people from invasion, threats, war, and other issues. An example of this would be a terrorist attack. This event was brought upon Congress, which decided what was best for the people of the country. During this time, Japanese Americans began to experience civil injustices which involved when the government had forcefully taken away the rights of the group. They were put into camps where the government was able to watch them, to “keep them in line”. It violated the right to due process because the people were not able to defend themselves against the law. According to Document A, the Civil Liberties Act of 1988, it is clear that stereotypes and racist ideas about people of a different race origin can be easily exaggerated and be faced with targeted threats. Fred Korematstu, a Japanese American, believed that the United States should not have done these actions in the first place. To sum up, the Japanese Americans have been faced with many civil injustices during this time. Next, facial recognition software can pose a risk of privacy concerns, which could lead to racial injustices. As technology begins to grow within the country, there have been many rising cases of unfair acts.
