Colonialism affected Kenya by giving them a king. Before they had their own council which made their own laws. “We had no king, we elected our council and they made our laws.” As said in document 3. But despite their new ruler, colonialism was “civilizing”.

In document 4 it says “Moreover, many westernized Africans saw colonialism in Africa as a progressive and “civilizing” force which, despite its many abuses, had eliminated slavery, human sacrifice and internecine warfare while providing opportunities for Africans with modern skills to rise socially and economically regardless of previous low social status..” This is saying that other then all the bad due to colonials it gave opportunities for people no matter their class. Also eliminated
